Wood preparation – At work!!
WELL BEGUN IS HALF DONE
The better the wood preparation, the better the end result. Get off to a good start with your wood project. Over-exposing unprotected wood for long periods of time can cause surface damage that reduces the wood’s ability to hold onto applied stain or paint coatings. This can lead to premature coating failure.
Allow new wood two to three weeks to dry in order to bring the moisture content down to an acceptable level and to make sure the surface is dry and porous.
This is especially important for pressure treated wood, as it is often times damp or wet at the core depending on treatment method used and amount of drying time.
Details of the two products that we recommend you to get the best protection of your wooden construction:
BORMA SHIELD
DESIGNED TO PROTECT WOODEN STRUCTURES BEFORE FINAL PAINTING
The product was formulated to prevent the wood from greying, efficiently protects against the formation of mildew and fungi and infestation of insects in the period in which wood is left without a finish. It does not alter the natural colour. Characterised by an excellent penetration capacity, it enables the subsequent application of oils and any further finishing.
Log Sealer Kantenschutz
IDEAL TO PROTECT EXPOSED ENDS OF BEAMS AND PLANKS
Water-based sealer, formulated to protect wooden structures not protected by logs, poles, or other wooden structures exposed to damp and adverse weather conditions. Also suitable for sealing longitudinal cracks. It blocks humidity penetrating the wood, preventing mildew formation and thereby extending the useful life of the protective coating and the manufactured piece in general.
